Create a community garden in this abandoned strip of land in Southwark
The Issue
There is an odd strip of land in Lower Road (Southwark, London): after years of neglect it has turned into an eye-sore and danger to pedestrians: weeds overgrown, full of rubbish and its fence collapsing on the street.
The land is independent from the building behind, it doesn't belong to the council either: it is owned by a private developer in California that has no use for it and takes no care of it.
We would like this odd strip of land to become a resource for the community: a community garden for residents managed by residents.
We would like to ask Buildtalk Limited to grant permission to Lower Rd Community Garden Association to create and manage a community garden in this piece of land.
