Help Us Become the Writers for a Mass Effect Television Adaptation
The Issue
Hello Mass Effect fans! We are a pair of fellow enthusiasts who, much like the rest of you, fell in love with Mass Effect across the years for its engaging setting, memorable characters, expansive story and exciting combat. We have often mused among ourselves that Mass Effect would have made a great television show, so you can imagine our delight when a few years ago Amazon acquired the rights to create a television show in the Mass Effect universe.
However, with little news emerging on this front since the rights-acquisition was finalized in late 2021 and with passion to see such a project come to life, we decided to take matters into our own hands and craft a show by fans, for fans. Over the past several months, we labored to draft a spec-script for the first episode of a Mass Effect television show.
Amazon's adaptation of the Fallout universe gave us some hope that any possible Mass Effect adaptation might possibly be handled well. However, after the announcement today of the writers and producers brought on to handle the project, we are no longer as confident. We had originally intended to put up this petition on N7 Day with the expectation that Amazon was slacking on adapting the franchise. Now, worried that these great games might suffer the fate of so many video-game adaptations, we are eager to prevent such an event.
To that end, we present to you our first episode of a potential Mass Effect television shot, meant as a direct adaptation of the introduction of the first mission in Mass Effect, the investigation of Eden Prime.
It is our firm desire to see these great games, their story and of course their memorable characters done justice on the big screen. But we cannot do so without your help. We humbly ask that you read through our script, available in these posts here (Mass Effect Subreddit, Bioware Forums), see the vision we're going for, and sign our petition to help make our case to the executives at Amazon. In doing so, you can help us achieve our dream, and we can ensure that Amazon provides the best possible result for all of us.
