I received a response from parliament:

"Dear Finn

As the issue you have raised falls within the portfolio responsibilities of the Minister of Defence, your email has been forwarded to the Minister's office for information.

Thank you for writing to the Prime Minister.

Rebecca

Office of the Prime Minister"

I guess this is a case of wait and see.

In international news, Switzerland has vetoed a request from Denmark to re-export 25 Swiss made Piranha 3 armoured vehicles to Ukraine. This isn't the first time Switzerland has done this kind of thing either. They also vetoed a request from Germany to re-export tank ammunition to Ukraine. And they rejected Poland's request for arms to help Ukraine. Fortunately, New Zealand's armoured vehicles were not made in Switzerland.

What this means is that any military equipment made by Switzerland is essentially useless because Switzerland will veto any attempt to re-export it to Ukraine. My personal recommendation is for countries to not buy Swiss armaments in future.

Despite this annoying and frankly immoral behaviour, there is good news also. The US and the UK have agreed to supply Ukraine with MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket Systems). Ukraine has been asking for these for a long time. They have much greater range than traditional artillery and are capable of hitting targets with some precision also. This is a potential game changer for Ukraine.

If Ukraine is going to try to take back the territory it has lost then at some point it will need to launch a major counter offensive. This will require armoured vehicles and lots of them.

Cheers,

Finn
