Constantly, Green sea turtles are being killed because of public wrongdoing. For example, pollution. Green sea turtles lay their eggs on land. Because of light pollution, it is harder for the sea turtles to cross the street, they often get blinded by the intense street lights. This often causes them to get killed from oncoming traffic. Bycatch, also, happens when green sea turtles are accidentally caught in nets when fisheries true intentions was to catch shrimp. This leads to an endangerment of their species and worse, a decline in our marine ecosystems. As Green sea turtles keep seagrass flourishing and productive, it allows them to act like a nest and food source for various smaller species. Without these turtles, seagrass can become unhealthy, there would be less new growth, and they can eventually die. There would also be a decline in birds and crabs as there would be less of a food supply. Without them, there would be a great decrease in economic (tourism) and ecological (protection on shores) benefits. The problem starts with human’s inability to acknowledge that what they are doing is harmful.
