Petition updateHelp this innocent father return to his family! We’ve had a lot of momentum over the last few months!

In February, a Central PA news station, WGAL News 8, produced a deep dive investigative piece on Tom. The journalist, Brian Roche, traveled to North Carolina to interview Tom in person. We are grateful to have the News 8 Team on our side!

Over the last year Tom and I have connected with the Prison Letters Project (PLP) at Yale Law School. There, we were introduced to an incarcerated journalist, John J. Lennon. He is one of many who responds to mail received by PLP and he seeks to amplify the voices of the incarcerated. He spent the last few months writing an article highlighting Tom’s case in addition to others who have been wrongfully accused of SBS. It was published in early May on Slate.com.

In addition to the media exposure, the most exciting update is that I have finally submitted the official clemency application to Governor Roy Cooper requesting he commutes Tom’s sentence. It has been received by his Clemency Office and is currently being reviewed. I was informed that there isn’t anything I can do but wait. I asked if it would be helpful if people wrote to the Clemency Office in support of Tom’s petition and was told that it wouldn’t make a difference in the review process.  However, I am an optimist. If you believe it could help, you can reach out directly to the office by emailing clemency@nc.gov and reference “Thomas W. Imschweiler’s Petition for Commutation of Sentence.”

Other than that, there really isn’t much more I can do except wait. Wait and have faith that my husband will be home soon.

Thank you to all of you who have supported my husband and signed this petition. It’s because of you that we were able to accomplish as much as we have so far. It doesn’t end here. Stay tuned!
