Help the wildlife at Crossways Business Park stay safe.

On the 17th April 2018 we read on social media that a swan that we had cared for and fed since he was born had been run over and killed. The person who done this failed to make sure he was ok, move him to a safer place or inform anyone of this. This swan wasn't just a animal who we saw occasionally, we grew to love him and we named him Costa. Costa was only 9 months old.

We would walk to the lake by Costa Coffee to feed him the correct food on a regular basis and also to meet and feed his 4 other brothers and sisters (before they flew the nest) and his parents.

Before this accident happened we were concerned about the speed that vehicles travelled in the business park. Now this has happened we want to make sure that wildlife living in and around the business park can do so safely. Further up on Galleon Boulevard there is a speed hump near The Wharf pub, however there are no other humps along that road, there is no pedestrian crossing either. We want further speed humps and signage to make people aware of their speed so no further accidents can happen to people or wildlife.

With the mating season in progress we know that new babies will be born soon and we want to protect them anyway we can. There is also no cctv in the area which covers the road and with many businesses working late this is a concern for the wildlife and people.

We would like to send this to Dartford borough council, the highways agency and Kent county council to get something put in place such as speed humps and signage.
