I am a second year student at Western University’s women’s affiliate Brescia University College. As of Thursday September 21st of 2023 Western University has decided to abolish and absorbe our school into main campus. They did not consult students, faculty, or staff. We were all BLINDSIDED! We are angry and upset and will make sure people know it! Help us inform Western University’s board of governors and Brescia’s board of trustees that they are wrong and making a huge mistake!

If we can’t save our school at least allow us to finish our degrees. There are first year students who have only been attending classes for two weeks and are now being told that next year they will be main campus students. If we wanted to be main campus students we would be. I didn't even apply to main campus.

This is a blow to women in Canada! We are losing safe spaces and support. Women who are survivors of sexual assault choose this campus for safety and security and it’s being ripped out from under them! We are also losing staff and faculty that has been here for decades! We are losing our history and that of the Ursuline sisters. At the very least we don’t want anyone else to experience this, we want to graduate with a degree that says Brescia and receive grad rings.

Brescia’s core values are to lead, to be bold, and to challenge the status quo. That is what we’re doing.
