Change of Business hours For the City of Calhoun Animal Control & Gordon County Animal Con

Change of Business hours For the City of Calhoun Animal Control & Gordon County Animal Con
The Issue
This change petition is to help modernize the open business hours of the City of Calhoun animal control.
Current Business operating hours for the shelter are
Monday through Thursday 8 AM to 6 PM
Friday 8 AM to 4 PM
Saturday - closed all day
Sunday - closed all day
Calhoun Ga is a Small Rural Community with the most part of the population working long 12 hr shifts in a factory, for most people Saturdays and Sundays are the only days off for these families. Another thing to consider is families with children who are at school who would love to come to an adoption event or visit the shelter on the weekend to select a new family pet.
The economy of Calhoun, GA employs 7.52k people. The largest industries in Calhoun, GA are Manufacturing (2,563 people), Health Care & Social Assistance (712 people), and Accommodation & Food Services and the highest paying industries are Wholesale Trade Educational Services and Transportation & Warehousing, & Utilities
Most people in the community would agree that at least having one open day on the weekend for adoptions would actually save so many dogs from being put to sleep in this high kill shelter, the dogs who sit and rot away in this shelter do not get taken to Petsmart for adoption events they do not get advocated for by the shelter staff and they are not allowed to be adopted on Saturday or Sunday when 99% of the community is off work the shelter is closed. The shelter staff is know to come in on Mondays and start euthanizing the dogs that were not adopted over the weekend, disregarding the fact that the dogs could not be adopted over the weekend because the shelter was completely closed.
Please consider signing this petition if you would like for the Calhoun city animal control to be open on a weekend so that more dogs have a chance to be adopted rather than rotting away in a cage all weekend long while other dogs are at adoption events being advocated for.
