The city of Decatur is building a new recreation center. That's wonderful indeed but the city declared when they started with these plans that it would not effect the dog park. Two weeks ago parks and recreation holds a meeting to discuss the new recreation center and moving the large dog park. This creates concerns for owners of large dogs. Space - large dogs need even stretches of land to exercise without injuries. The proposed new site for large dogs is at the end of the small dog park. It is a curved section right on the lakes banks. The small park holds water and doesn't drain well, at least part of the proposed new large site will be the same. The area is right along the road side creating an increased risk for injury if a dog accidentally gets out. We are meeting with City Hall on Monday November 25, 2024 at 5pm.
