I am overwhelmed by the level of support for our humble campaign. In just one week 101,000 of you have backed this petition calling on the Chancellor Philip Hammond to rebate the VAT on the sale of our ‘There But Not There’ Tommies. Thank you. It means so much to me and our tiny team to know we are not alone. There are 101,000 of you standing shoulder to shoulder with us.
The battle continues and while we have still not had any official indication from the Chancellor’s office that he will rebate the VAT, we have had indications that it is ‘under consideration.’
With over 100,000 signatures we’re hopeful that a friendly MP will consider tabling this for debate in Parliament. If you are that MP or you know of one who would consider putting this forward, get in touch!
At the risk of returning to the well too many times, I must ask one (ok, two) more thing(s) of you friends. First, buy your Tommy. The money raised is going to help heroes who have done and sacrificed so much. Buy yours at www.therebutnotthere.org.uk or by following the link in this update.
The second thing is to share this petition with your friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, anyone and everyone! Remember to use the hashtags #ThereButNotThere #TommyVAT and copy in the Chancellor @PhilipHammondUK
With your support we will win back the cash for these veterans charities.
With warm wishes,
Rowley
