What an incredible response; Over 10,000 signatures in just under a week! Thank you for your support.
But I’m afraid this update is not a positive one. Despite our best efforts and the support of so many, we have still not had any official response from the Chancellor’s office.
There have been statements from the Chancellor’s Press Office to enquiring reporters stating he is,’looking at it’, but in the words of our Patron and former head of the army General the Lord Dannatt, “jam tomorrow is not the same as cash today.”
The good news is the Chancellor still has time before his Budget is announced in two weeks, to do the right and honourable thing and return the VAT on the sale of ‘There But Not There’ Tommies, but we need your help!
What more can you do?
First, share the petition with your friends, family and colleagues. Share it on social media with the hashtags #TommyVAT #ThereButNotThere and don’t forget to copy in Mr Hammond at @PhilipHammondUK
Secondly, buy your Tommy and help support the six brilliant armed forces charities that need this money so much. We WILL win this campaign resulting in a greater VAT rebate and even more cash for veterans who have served and sacrificed so much.
We are not a big charity. There are just six of us crammed into a tiny cupboard sized office, which is why your support is so invaluable.
Thank you again for all you have done, but let’s dig deep and keep the pressure on!
Very best,
Rowley
