Help Take a Stand Against Child Labor in Cocoa Factories

Help Take a Stand Against Child Labor in Cocoa Factories
The Issue
Everyday millions of children around the world are subjected to horrific conditions and forced labor in cocoa factories. Mars, Nestle, and Hersey have not kept their decade-old promise to stop using cocoa harvested by children. In Africa, millions of children as young as 5 years old are kidnapped or trafficked into slavery, and some are working until adulthood. It is time for us to take a stand against this injustice and demand an end to the exploitation of innocent children.
Cocoa production in West Africa is where approximately 70% of the world's cocoa is sourced. According to the International Labor Organization there are approximately 152 million child laborers globally. Many work in hazardous conditions like the children on cocoa farms.
The New 3Rs Youth Responsive Philanthropists recognize that Black and Brown youth globally are more vulnerable to capitalist exploitation. Will you support The New 3RS students organizing for human rights by signing their petition? This Halloween don't purchase chocolate from Mars, Nestle, and Hershey.
Here are some alarming facts:
1. Children often handle harmful chemicals and sharp tools without proper protection, leading to injuries and health problems.
2. Child labor deprives children of their right to education. Instead of attending school, these children spend their days performing arduous tasks on plantations, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and illiteracy.
3. Corporations say they have made changes, but they are unwilling to take sufficient actions against child labor.
We must hold corporations accountable and demand stricter regulations and enforcement within their industry. By signing this petition, you are joining a global movement demanding an end to the exploitation of children in cocoa factories. Together, we can create a future where all children have the opportunity to grow up free from forced labor enjoy their right to have fun as a child, and receive their well-deserved education.
Sign now and help put an end to child exploitation in cocoa factories!
