The Issue

Students in Evergreen Elementary School District (EESD) deserve better!

Our students deserve a school district that prioritizes the upkeep of EESD school sites and classrooms to ensure that our students have access to facilities that are safe and appropriate for the needs of students’ physical and cognitive abilities.

Our students deserve a school district that is committed to fully staffing our schools, offering competitive salaries to attract and retain teachers and specialists, and hiring properly qualified administrators for our school sites as well as our district office.

Our students deserve a school district that is fiscally responsible, transparent in the allocation of all school funding, and cooperative in the communication and sharing of all public records.

Our students deserve a school district that values and engages in meaningful collaboration on decisions that affect their learning environments and their teachers’ ability to provide the necessary supports across a diverse range of student abilities and needs.

Responded
In responding to you regarding this petition, please know that, as an educator since 1973, a former teacher, administrator, and Superintendent of Schools for 13 years, I believe that all students deserve appropriate well maintained facilities, caring and competent teachers and staff, and leadership that supports student success. Students also deserve to be supported within a safe environment for all. As a sitting board member whose term will conclude in December, I also believe in the democratic process and encourage all those who believe the District can do better to express that belief through their votes. Our democracy and our educational systems do best when the community participates in a variety of ways, including the expression of the vote. In terms of responding to the survey directly, as a sitting board member, my own voice is best expressed through the board meetings we hold regularly. My own involvement and advocacy is best placed there. In addition, I listen carefully to all comments from the public. I encourage that involvement, too. Thank you for providing your advocacy forum. Sincerely, Stan Rose, Ed.D. Note: The Change.org Civic Engagement Team reaches out to decision makers to let them know about petitions in their community and to help facilitate engagement with supporters. This was an email response we received regarding this petition.
