I am writing this petition today because I believe in justice, equality, and the right for every individual to live without fear of discrimination and violence. It’s not a personal issue for me—it is a moral obligation. I fear that if we do not speak up now about the injustices being faced by Muslims in India, the situation will only continue to deteriorate.

In recent years, there has been an alarming increase in the violence against and demonisation of Muslims within India. According to a report by Amnesty International, there has been a sharp rise in hate crimes, including mob lynchings and assault cases against Muslim communities, largely fuelled by an environment of intolerance and suspicion encouraged by certain factions in the media and parts of the government.

Moreover, the misuse of law and order mechanisms has further exacerbated the situation, allowing such discriminatory practices to be institutionalized without accountability. The National Crime Records Bureau data indicates a disturbing trend where legal systems are being used unjustly against Muslims, creating a cycle of fear and oppression that must be addressed.

Media plays a pivotal role in shaping public perception, yet many outlets engage in biased reporting that only serves to further the systemic discrimination against Muslims. This skewed portrayal has real-world consequences, fostering an environment where violence and discrimination are not just overlooked but indirectly encouraged.

To combat this grave issue, we must come together to urge the Indian government and media outlets to take immediate, tangible steps to protect Muslim communities in India. This includes:

1. Implementing stricter regulations against hate crimes and ensuring swift justice for victims.
2. Imposing penalties on media outlets that propagate biased and inflammatory content against any religious or minority group.
3. Establishing independent watchdog bodies to oversee police and law enforcement activities to prevent misuse of power.
4. Encouraging peaceful dialogues and community interventions aimed at fostering understanding and harmony among diverse communities.

We cannot stand by as these injustices occur; history has shown us the devastating effects of silence and indifference. Let us lift our voices in solidarity and demand a more inclusive and fair society for all people in India.
