Petition to End the Taiji Dolphin Hunts

 

Protect Dolphins from Capture, Slaughter, and Exploitation in Taiji, Japan

First of all Thank you Kunito Seko for your documentation everyday for six months straight.  With out you these Taiji Japan Atrocities would be hidden. 

Every year, from approximately September through March, pods of dolphins are driven into the infamous cove in Taiji, Wakayama, Japan. These intelligent, social, and sentient beings are subjected to terrifying and prolonged hunts.

 

Some dolphins are selected for captivity and sold into the entertainment industry, while others are killed for their meat. Entire family groups can be torn apart, leaving surviving dolphins distressed and separated from members of their pod.

 

We are asking the Government of Japan, the Government of Wakayama Prefecture, and the authorities responsible for the Taiji hunts to end these hunts and protect dolphins from capture and slaughter.

 

We are calling for:

An end to the killing of dolphins in Taiji.

An end to the capture and removal of dolphins from their wild pods for captivity and entertainment.

Greater transparency regarding the number of dolphins captured, killed, and transferred into captivity.

Stronger protections for dolphins and other marine mammals in Japanese waters.

A transition toward humane, non-lethal alternatives that respect marine life and wild dolphin populations.

 

Dolphins are highly intelligent, social animals who form strong family and social bonds. They belong in the ocean, with their pods — not in captivity and not in a cove awaiting slaughter.

 

This petition is not about attacking the people of Japan or Japanese culture. It is about asking for compassion, transparency, and meaningful protection for marine animals.

 

We respectfully ask the authorities to listen to the international community and end the Taiji dolphin hunts.

 

Let their freedom be their future.
