Help Stop the BCPS Magnet Department From Taking the Promised IMP Course Away

The Issue

After being promised by our school to take the IMP (Interactive Media Production) course during the in person interest meeting for the prime and on their (our school’s) website (Here). Our school recently told us that they would be removing IMP and now only offering us to take AI classes. Without this major part of our prime, we (IT/IMP students) are no longer being provided with experiences in website development, digital media production, and project management. We are also missing the opportunity to develop skills in animation, web page design, and game development. Along with missing the opportunity to learn other programming languages, we are no longer learning how to use many valuable programs such as Unity.

IT(Information Technology)/IMP students are not the only ones being affected by this as other students from different primes are now unable to get experience in a group. For example, DIM students (Digital instrumental Music) will no longer be able to collaborate by putting their music in the games we (IMP students) created. This sudden and unacceptable change in curriculum creates a ripple effect across our school.

We need to act now as it's only a matter of time before this becomes final when classes for next year are cemented in. But if we can show enough people believe this change is wrong it might make them change their minds.
