Friends, relatives, allies —
Since launching this petition to protect Lemay Forest and hold accountable those responsible for harmful development on sacred Indigenous lands, much has unfolded. I want to share the truth with you — no sugar-coating, no silence.
1. Privacy Breach by MPPI’s Executive Director
In June, while I was pursuing a formal complaint against planner John Wintrup for his repeated role in developments that threaten culturally sensitive Indigenous lands, Geoff Powell, Executive Director of the Manitoba Professional Planners Institute (MPPI), disclosed my personal information — including my email address, home address, and phone number — to multiple other complainants without my consent.
I have documented proof in emails where I explicitly stated I do not consent to sharing this information.
This is a clear breach of Canadian privacy laws and MPPI’s obligations under the Registered Professional Planners Act.
2. Lack of Cultural Safety & Indigenous Rights Awareness
Powell’s conduct demonstrates a disturbing lack of understanding of cultural safety and the rights of Indigenous Peoples under:
-
UNDRIP (United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples) — which Canada has adopted into law, requiring free, prior, and informed consent.
-
TRC Calls to Action — which demand that all regulatory bodies respect Indigenous rights and knowledge.
Instead of ensuring a safe and respectful process, MPPI has exposed me to further harm and created an unsafe environment for Indigenous complainants.
3. Silence and Inaction from MPPI & CIP
Despite formal complaints, documented evidence, and outreach to both MPPI and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), no meaningful accountability measures have been taken.
Their failure to act is not only a legal risk but a reputational one. Professional regulators cannot stand by while members violate ethics, Indigenous rights, and privacy laws.
4. Broader Pattern of Harm
John Wintrup has built his career taking on Manitoba’s most culturally sensitive development projects without honouring Indigenous voices, lands, or protocols. From Lemay Forest to other sacred sites, the harm is not isolated — it is systemic.
5. My Commitment and the Emotional Toll
I have carried this work through ceremony, fasting, prayer, and public advocacy — often at great personal cost. This is not a “bandwagon issue” for me. I have witnessed the harm firsthand.
While I am taking this weekend to rest, be with my family, and pray for peace with my ceremonial sisters, I am not stepping away.
📣 What You Can Do Right Now
-
Share this petition widely — the more eyes on this, the harder it is for MPPI, CIP, and government to ignore.
-
Tag MPPI, CIP, and relevant government officials on social media, demanding accountability.
-
Email your MLA, MP, and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada citing this petition and the breaches outlined here.
We are demanding:

Immediate reforms within MPPI and CIP to uphold UNDRIP, TRC Calls to Action, and Canadian privacy law.
📍 This is not just my fight — it’s a fight for every Indigenous person who has been silenced, every sacred site threatened, and every voice ignored by the very systems that claim to protect us.
I will not stop.
And with your support, neither will this movement.
In solidarity and ceremony,
