Help stop speeding in our residential neighborhood
The Issue
I've lived in our beautiful neighborhood for three years, and it's a place where my young kids and pets love to play outside. We enjoy the serene environment for walking. However, there's a pressing issue affecting our daily life: speeding. Drivers regularly exceed the 30 mph limit, reaching alarming speeds of 40-50 mph or even faster on our roads.
Our streets are designed for families to enjoy, for neighbors to connect, and kids to explore, not for the dangerous speeds often witnessed. The specific concern lies on the 13th St. South and 22nd Avenue S. intersection AND the crossing at 13th St. S and Patricia Dr. The long stretches of road encourage risky driving behavior, posing a serious threat to safety.
I propose the installation of 3-way stop signs at these critical intersections: one at the crossing of 13th St. South and 22nd Avenue S., right at the top of the hill, and another at 13th St. S and Patricia Dr. This solution aims to break long stretches and ensure that drivers slow down, thus reducing the risk of accidents and enhancing safety for everyone.
The implementations of stop signs will not only encourage adherence to speed limits but also promote responsible driving behavior, making our neighborhood a safer place for our children and pets.
Let's come together as a community and urge our local officials to act before a serious incident occurs. Your support is crucial in conveying the urgency of this matter to those who have the power to make these changes. I have spoken to our ward’s councilman, Mike Conway, and he is eager to fight towards this solution!
We need your help to show the city WE want SAFETY in our neighborhood. Sign the petition to make our neighborhood streets safer today.
