Help Stop Indiana's Discriminatory Marriage Amendment
Help Stop Indiana's Discriminatory Marriage Amendment
The Issue
On Tuesday, February 15, 2011, the Indiana House of Representatives voted 70-26 to pass HJR-6, the proposed marriage discrimination amendment to Indiana's constitution.
The Indiana Senate Judiciary Committee is now poised to hear testimony on the measure.
Instead of offering solutions to the real problems Indiana families are facing, proponents HJR-6 are taking time on an unnecessary and damaging amendment to our Constitution, infringing on people’s human dignity.
Below is the text of HJR-6:
“Only a marriage between one (1) man and one (1) woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Indiana. A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized.”
Stand up for Equality! Let the Committee members know that this is WRONG for Indiana families, WRONG for Indiana businesses, and WRONG for Indiana!
