Help STOP Brian Kemps, Megasite Project in Peach County
The Issue

Please read.
I personally, am not happy about this megasite. There are a lot more people out there who want this project to stop. Brian Kemp, Peach County, and the Georgia Government want to put a 1,000+ acre industrial solar site super close to peoples homes and the Peach County High School. They will THEN say, we need more land, we are possibly going to extend past 2,000+ acres. Are you freaking kidding me? The beauty of Fort Valley will go away once they start building. Once they start tearing down those trees. They will not stop. That Peach in Peach County will be no more. Peach County will become the place that people do not want to live in.
First, let’s cover what a megasite actually is. A Megasite or Mega-Site is a land development by private developers, universities, or governments to promote business clusters. These organizations develop the land so that it is "shovel ready" for big business, by improving the infrastructure (roads, utilities, and landscape). For the megasite that they plan on building is a huge solar plant. By the way, the land is not ready to be dug on…. KEEP THAT IN MIND!! That sentence was important. I will revisit this later.
Several people move to Fort Valley Georgia for the peace and quiet. The country life. The dirt roads, the wild life, the farm animals, the trees, and the beauty. I, PERSONALLY, and my family, moved to Fort Valley to take in the country side. To get away from the city life. Now we are in our dream home and are surrounded by all we wanted. The constant change of the times does not require them to build a solar plant on a plot of land. We need that land for trees and agriculture. What is is being used as right now. Agriculture gives us food, medicine, and among other things. Farmers are the unsong heros of the world. Trees put out oxygen for us to breathe. I would much rather live next to a forest, peach trees, pecan trees, a grass field, or a corn field than next to any solar megasite plant. Fort Valley might need growth but this is NOT the way to do it. Please keep that sentence in mind as well. We need positive growth. At the moment, we don’t need this growth. Fort Valley should not be the next Macon GA. It need to just be a neighboring city that is relaxing and peaceful.
When they pave that 96 bypass and extend Russel all the way down AND then want to put housing back there (Their plans)… Can you imagine the traffic congestion?! Can you imagine how bad they are going to realize that they messed up? Doing that will increase traffic of Fulwood Rd, Matthews Rd, Lilly Creek Rd, as well as all the roads they put in. Lilly Creek is a dirt road and takes away the country roads. Putting in those roads are sooo dangerous. Please do not put those roads in. The people who live near there will suffer so bad. Please!!! QUIT PAVING IN FORT VALLEY AND START PLANTING. Start doing something else that does not remove what Fort Valley is.
The commissioners, BJ Walker, and other authority figures in the county refused to listen to the peoples thoughts. Yes, people went in front of these people and told their opinions on Tuesday June 14, 2022. Did it actually matter though? No. They already were going to start building no matter what those concerned citizens had to say. No matter what the citizens or community said. They would never stop. The leaders were selfish. The didn’t want to tell people in advance either. They just said here you go, we are doing it. No warning with what the people had to say. ESPECIALLY the people who are going to live right by it. Peach County and the GA Government should have gave the people more of a say that was not biased, that was not corrupt. They are supposed to speak for us. The FAILED to pursue that duty. I hope that people remember that in Peach County come election time. They should have voted for the people that live in the area that they actually want to build. They knew about this project and kept it in the dark until the last minute almost. This country is supposed to be for the PEOPLE. They don’t freaking care about us. They don’t understand the connections we have with our properties and they want to destroy the land. Make it soon be a run down waste field. Let me stop right there. There is already waste that is on the land on a property where they want to be. It is toxic and not safe to people. Over time it’ll just get more toxic. This was brought up at the Tuesday meeting on June 14th 2022, by someone who used to live on that such property. Remember those people come election time!!! They aren’t freaking listening to anyone!!!! NO ONE!!!!
This is A WASTE of government money that NEEDS to be spent in a better place. The government should spend money elsewhere. There is always somewhere better to spend it. Always. A better way to make GA a better state.
You want to bring in more jobs that’ll bring more people into Peach County. FALSE. No one wants to live by that thing!!! People are still refusing to work. People are being lazy and not working for what they could have. What they should have. People are not filling the jobs that are needed in the county or surrounding counties. The business are not thriving and won’t for awhile. Too much of a demand that help is needed at jobs, and not enough people to work for it. These smaller businesses will start to fade. The bigger business will too. Your taking away jobs that need to be filled. This plant will put business out of business. You might even be let off. No one’s job is safe!!
The commissioners, BJ Walker, and other authority figures say that it’ll increase the value of the property of those nearby. That is again… FALSE!!!! It will decrease!!! Due to no one wanting to live right next to the megasite.
I say put it somewhere else, not in my backyard. And a fair point said that somewhere else is someone else’s backyard. That’ll be true but at least it won’t be Peach County’s backyard. The citizens won’t suffer with what they have to see. Those “someone else’s” can fight it too if they don’t like it either. This is very disturbing and I don’t think anyone wants to live by something as big as this. This idea or movement should just be kicked out the door forever.
Chad Hamlin posted this on a post or two on a Peach County page on Facebook regarding this situation, “CFACT. Sept 2019 Report included: “Solar panels generate 300 times more toxic waste per unit of energy than nuclear power plants. They also contain lead, cadmium, and other toxic (even carcinogenic) chemicals that cannot be removed without breaking apart the entire panel. Worse, rainwater can wash many of these toxics out of the fragments of solar modules over time.”” WOULD YOU LIKE TO BREATHE IN TOXIC WASTE EVERY DAY??????? I DONT THINK SO!!!! Who knows how far that stretch of toxic waste will go. It could be over your home!!! It could go all the way to Byron, Marshallville, Reynolds’s, Roberta, Perry, Centerville, Warner Robins…. Who knows!! But most of all, you best believe that waste will be in Fort Valley. Your back yard. The environmental conditions will be out of this world. It will be damaging. They are putting it VERY close to the New Peach County High School. Do you want your high schooler to be exposed to such a harmful environment? THIS project will NOT increase people coming to peach county. It will DECREASE. Please quit making it the next Macon and trying to build Fort Valley up. We need the land to stay the same or the citizens will begin to suffer in one shape or form. Your high school might just be exposed to toxic waste everyday when they attend school. Just think about that. The environmental damage that can and will be done is something that needs to be stopped. For the safety of the wildlife, animals, agriculture that is growing, and the people who live nearby. We need to stop this. We need to help the animals, farmers, and people who are around the site. Lanes, located on 96 as well, that is a huge tourist stop in Peach County, their profit will begin to DECREASE. I don’t know how Lane was ok with selling their land like that. DO NOT SELL YOUR LAND. The toxic waste that will come from the industrial park waste field will then transfer to those trees and fruits and whatever is growing. It will damage the humans and animals that consume those products!!!!!! There is a river on that property that fish live in and what deer and other wildlife animals drink. Can you believe what the rain water will run into Mossy Creek?!?!? Mossy Creek is connected to other rivers and lakes. That waste can and will travel very far.
This land that they are trying to build on is too big!!! Your taking so much away from the community. I just can’t believe it. It keeps me up all night thinking about this!! At the meeting they did not show the same map that was posted by Peach Camber of Commerce on their Facebook. You lied to the people. AGAIN. Tried to cover this up. Trying to make it bigger than what you want. It’s so disturbing and disappointing.
This is a great point to add… The PureFlavor Green house that is located on Hwy 96 in Fort Valley. So many people fought that and lost. We can’t loose this. I am begging everyone who reads this and who is concerned about this and those who are not. Please sign this petition and get this project deleted. The PureFlavor green house promised jobs. Maybe they gave out some, but I don’t see many cars around in the area. My knowledge of the greenhouse was that there were going to be 3 of those huge things, but after all this time they only have one. I believe the reason is that they aren’t doing well. The workers that are posted in the barracks are loud and I know that the people in the area are still furious about it. Just remember this instance too.
I’m sorry for the people that actually liked the idea. I’m sorry that if you wanted a job there. I’m sorry. BUT this can’t happen. Go into these peoples shoes who live near by.…. You move to Peach County for the peace and quiet and the country vibes. You see deer that eat the corn you put out for them and you see other wildlife that just roam the woods. You enjoy the breeze in the trees, the fresh oxygen that it gives out. Then one day they start building… building a huge megasite. That’ll be right next to your property line. Next thing you know, accidents start happening on the roads, the dirt road Lilly creek becomes the most populated road in the county, it damages the people around it, it no longer the Georgia red clay of a road. A road that you could of rode four wheelers down when the family comes in. You DO NOT even have to live next to the property to feel the impact. You once saw Lanes Pecan trees, peach trees, blue berry bushes, farm land, and whatever else, every time to take 96 or 49. Now you see buildings, solar panels, gates, fences, and cars. What’s the beauty in that?!?! What they are about to embark on is a path we shouldn’t let them go down.
DO NOT FIX WHATS NOT BROKEN!!!!
Attached is the plan for this megasite. It is just disturbing looking at it.
Please. Peach County citizens and other people of the world. Help me. Help me in some form to get this mega solar plant shut back down. Tell me who is actually against this project. People… this is not a good thing. So many people think this is a great idea but they have no clue how bad this is. Everyone in the area near where they are building it does not want it even close to them. We need to stop it. We need to get ahead of this!!!! A lot of people are not happy about this and we should not be quiet about this!!! Our commissioners, authority figures, mayor, and whomever are ignoring the community and citizens of Fort Valley. They just want their paycheck and want to run over everyone who stand in the way. Please, I ask again. Help me. We need to be louder. And as always, do everything peacefully.
Thank you to those who are open and respect my opinion. Thank you to those who read all of this as well. Thank you Peach County Citizens!! Thank you to those who will sign my petition and fight back against this solar megasite!!! Thank you for everyone time and patience. Thank you!!
Thank you!! This means a lot to my family, my friends, the people in the area, and myself. I will no longer be able to do what I love if this happens. I will never be able to do the things I do on a everyday basis. This project will literally ruin my life. I really can’t see this happen. I am begging everyone. Please sign this petition. Please SHARE. Please be loud about this. Please help me. Please!!
