The Issue

This petition is deeply personal to me. Robert Kessler, a man who had access to my children, nieces, and neighborhood kids through his positions at our local school as a substitute lunch aide and fill-in bus driver, is facing multiple charges related to child abuse. He was also a softball coach. Despite these serious allegations, he was granted bond and is currently walking freely on our streets.

Kessler's charges include possession of child sexually abusive material (750.145C4-A), accosting children for immoral purposes (750145A-A) two counts, distributing obscene matter to children (722675) 2 counts, using computers to commit crimes with potential imprisonment of 2-4 years (7527973C), using computers to commit crimes with potential imprisonment of less than 10 years but more than 4 years (7527973D), and contributing to the delinquency of children (750145).

The fact that someone facing such severe charges can still walk freely among us is deeply disturbing. It sends the wrong message about how seriously we take child safety in our community.

We are calling on the justice system to deny him the option of a plea deal. Plea deals can often result in reduced sentences or lighter penalties (Source: National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers). In this case, it could mean that someone who potentially exploited his position for harmful purposes could evade full accountability.

We urge you not only consider the severity of these accusations but also remember that this man had direct access to vulnerable young people due his roles within our community's education system.

Let's ensure justice prevails by denying Robert Kessler any opportunity for a plea deal in this case involving multiple instances of alleged child abuse. Please sign this petition today!
