Vantage Point, the Owner of 1 Cooloongatta Road advised VCAT they were abandoning the current plans, and accepted Boroondara’s determination they were refused- Great News!!
However we must be clear in our intent to protect Kaydon Court, which has 2 Heritage Expert Reports confirming this property is of historical significance.
We understand there is a pending Supreme Court Action by Vantage Point scheduled for February 2022, regarding the Amendment GC172, which prohibits any new construction greater than 2 storeys in this area. Once this matter is resolved it seems likely Vantage Point will endeavour to have plans approved that will give them the highest possible return for this site. No doubt the potential redevelopment of Kaydon Court is still very much alive.
In addition, with the appointment of Matthew Guy, Leader of the Opposition and his Cabinet’s re-shuffle, the new Shadow Minister for Planning, Heritage, & suburban recovery is Ryan Smith.
We congratulate Mr Smith and look forward to working with him to progress the Heritage Overlay on Kaydon Court.
