The Issue

WHY SIGN THIS PETITION
Every year, 500,000 people in the U.S. lose their lives to conditions linked to obesity. That’s more than 3,000 people a day who might have had a fighting chance with access to GLP-1 medications. These treatments can save lives, people do not have the luxury of waiting until they become another statistic.

Access Is Blocked:

  • In 2025, many patients lost coverage altogether.
  • Insurance is no safety net, people are denied, priced out, or trapped in endless red tape.
  • Compounded GLP-1s are restricted to individual prescriptions under strict FDA rules.
  • Out-of-pocket costs put treatment out of reach for most.
  • Desperation pushes patients toward unsafe, unregulated sources.

This is keeping people sick, and it’s unacceptable.

Hi, I’m Amanda. I founded this petition to add my voice to the incredible advocates who’ve been fighting for affordable access for years. It was the starting point for everything that followed:

  • November: I launched this petition to push for affordable access and raise awareness. It gained immediate traction, leading to 9 media interviews.
  • December: Inspired by its momentum, I started a podcast to share community stories, put a human face on the access crisis, and fight stigma and misinformation.
  • January: Interviewing patients and highlighting community stories made it clear there was a need for charitable programs and education to support this community, so I founded a nonprofit to meet that need.
  • July: Seeing the constraints of a 501(c)(3), I launched my own initiative, GLP-1 Studio, to handle partnerships, communications, and advocacy work that extends beyond nonprofit constraints, turning the mission for affordable access into real action.

This petition has power because every single person who signs makes our collective voice stronger.

📃 This Isn’t Just a Petition, It’s a Public Record
The nonprofit officially submitted all 27,000+ signatures and 400+ comments in formal letters to the FDA and the USPTO, asking for:

To the FDA requesting an action from the following:

  • Allow regulated compounding when no affordable alternative exists
  • Fast-track generic GLP-1 approvals
  • Advocate for insurance coverage
  • Pressure big pharma to lower prices

To the USPTO, requesting they address the impact of “evergreening” patents that extend exclusivity and limit market competition. (Article in Production)

The GLP-1 Collective nonprofit continues to advance education and patient support. I am turning advocacy into action through GLP-1 Studio, driving media, partnerships, and operations. And I remain personally committed to using every platform available to keep this issue visible.
