Help secure a fairer Blue Badge system for cancer patients

Help secure a fairer Blue Badge system for cancer patients
The Issue
There is nothing more important to KentOnline than standing up for our readers, which is why we launched our Blue Badge Battle campaign.
It aims to fight for a fairer system for cancer patients and those with short-term but serious mobility issues.
The campaign was prompted by Sandy Burr (pictured), who was refused a badge even after a cancer diagnosis, a toe amputation, and blood clots in her lungs that severely limited her ability to walk.
We know hundreds of people in Kent and Medway would benefit from a short-term temporary badge while facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
We have been lobbying on their behalf to get Kent County Council to introduce a discretionary scheme so people can access a temporary Blue Badge.
But the authority says it won’t consider the proposals being championed by KentOnline, Medway Council, and all 18 of the county’s MPs.
We think they’ve ruled it out too early on and believe North Lincolnshire’s trailblazing Green Badge scheme provides hope and evidence of how such a scheme could be implemented.
Please sign this petition to signal your support and urge the council to reconsider a discretionary Blue Badge scheme.
