The proposed development site is in a valley where urban development is not allowed by law: it is Outside the Development Zone, zoned as a rural conservation area and as a valley protection zone.  Additionally, the South Malta Local Plan zones the area as a strategic open space gap where MEPA is duty bound to prevent urban sprawl.  The  site forms part of a scarce green lung for the south of Malta and has legal protection as an acquifer protection zone.

Tiny Malta has little remaining green areas and valleys.  Let's stand up together for the little that's left.
