The Whittier school has been a cornerstone to the Whittier and Denver community for more than a century.

On October 25th, 2022, Denver Public Schools announced their intention to close Whittier ECE-8, along with nine other DPS schools.  It is proposed that Whittier students "choose" from three different elementary schools and three different middle schools.  Unlike the other individual school consolidation proposals, Whittier students would be forced into six different enrollment zone schools. 

The announcement was framed as a done deal - this is not true!

While Denver Public Schools has been seeing declining enrollment rates in recent years, Whittier has not!  Whittier's student population has grown since 2020.  In fact, Whittier is the only school in its enrollment zone with an increase in enrollment, and it is surrounded by neighborhoods experiencing an increase in the under 18 population. Enrollment in the district is declining but not at Whittier.

Please show your support for the Whittier students, staff, families, and surrounding community by signing this petition to keep Whittier open amidst the current consolidation plan.  Keep our students, teachers, families, and community together!
