Currently there is a proposed development application (DA) to partly demolish the building to construct a hotel which would see the loss of Mudgee's Regent Theatre.

We oppose this development.

We believe that a hotel can be built anywhere and it should not be done to compromise such a significant Art Deco theatre. 

Prominent Sydney architect George Newton Kenworthy, completed extensive theatre designs including The Regent Theatre; demonstrating aesthetic characteristics and a high degree of creative achievement in NSW.

The Regent has potential to yield information that will contribute to an understanding of NSW’s cultural history.
