Help save the Swinging Bridge Heritage Cabins

The issue

Firstly. Thank you for any interest, support or care you have in conserving the history of the Wee Jasper cabins and their families. We hope we can inspire you to see the value in these humble cabins both from a historical and human standpoint. In order to understand why they are truly worth saving.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land the Ngunnawal and Wiradjuri people. We, with your support, would also like to use these existing structures to shed significant light on indigenous heritage & culture by paying respects to all knowledge of early indigenous history provided by the elders & those alike.

We as long-standing families & cabin holders of up to five generations on the Goodradigbee River, have been blessed to play an important part of history in the region & have become humbled by its pristine magnificence. We have been willing caretakers of the land, waterways & wildlife within the much-loved Swinging Bridge Reserve for the past 70 years

Our community has recently formed a much-needed heritage protection group, as it seems we are to be faced with impending plans from Crown Lands to demolish these humble dwellings that mean so much to us, including our lost family members and have earned their place as part of the significant history of the area.

All that being said, we realise our time here has been short in comparison to the history of the native/Indigenous people of this region that have for eons walked these rivers forming traditions & community gatherings.

We ourselves are also in the early stages of a heritage listing application in hopes that these modest iconic dwellings & their families can remain here as a representation of the culture of its time.
