'The Son of God became man to enable men to become sons of God"- by C.S. Lewis
The Nativity of the Lord Jesus powerfully unveils the extraordinary reality of the Incarnation. God, in His boundless compassion, refused to abandon us in our misery. Instead, He descended from heaven to share in our struggles and transform them with His presence. In the stillness of Bethlehem, we encounter not a distant deity, but a God who passionately chooses intimacy over remoteness, humility over might, and self-giving love over indifference.
How often do we find ourselves tempted to believe that the Lord is distant, uninterested, or unmoved by our struggles? Christmas shatters this misconception. The eternal Son of God entered fully into our human condition—poverty, vulnerability, dependence—so that not a single moment of our lives would remain untouched by His boundless mercy. Christmas is the living proof that God longs to be intimately involved in every aspect of our existence.
Sacred Scripture proclaims this mystery with breathtaking simplicity:
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
The Catechism of the Catholic Church echoes this truth, reminding us of the purpose of Christ’s coming:
“The Word became flesh to make us ‘partakers of the divine nature.’” (CCC 460)
Christ came into our midst so that, by knowing Him, loving Him, and serving Him, we might share in His divine life. Through His Incarnation, He urgently calls us not only to receive His love, but to become radiant bearers of that love in the world—living, breathing witnesses to His closeness, His tenderness, and His saving grace. Our response to Christmas is not passive; it is a bold invitation to let our lives be transformed and to transform the lives of others.
May this holy season rekindle in us an unshakable trust in a God who is not far away, but Emmanuel—God with us. Let us open our hearts anew to the profound hope and joy His presence brings, and let that confidence inspire us to share His love with those around us.
Prayers for a blessed and joyful Christmas!
