Dear Friends,
Are you looking for a way to celebrate Thanksgiving? Why not give some time to write down why you are thankful for the opportunity to work for this special place and send it to the Preservation Services Board of Toronto? A deputation meeting is on Tuesday, October 10, at 9:30 a.m. The deadline for submission of your comments to the Preservation Services Board is Monday, October 9, at noon. Please email hertpb@toronto.ca if you wish to speak at the meeting, or you may also submit your comments. Now is the time we have all been waiting for! The board will review your statements; your presence at the meeting is invaluable!
We can not discount the many testimonies of people who have been to 3100 Weston Road, from the healings that took place documented on YouTube to the passionate responses within the month of this petition's inception; we had heard many cries, all captured on national television, when it closed down on that fateful day in August, a few days shy of the feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary on August 15. It is disheartening to see the statues torn down, the plaques removed, tangible symbols of faith and morals that we as a society hold dear and uphold in our hearts and lives. We can think of many negative emotions against individuals behind this motive- and the question remains- how come this all happened?
But God has many plans in store. Now the work is about to begin, the real reason we are all here- to help put a stamp on this special place of prayer and all that it signifies- as heritage. We needed support to save it- the petition has gone a long way. The City Hall and Legislative Assembly of ON heard us; we claimed victory! We need to do more work; there is no turning back.
Hence, say your piece now if you wish to be part of history. We need witnesses to attend the deputation with the Toronto Preservations Services Board on October 10 at 9:30 a.m. Please consider registering to have your say and what you believe the shrine has meant to you. You must share if you experienced personal healing and encounters- it is more than just the quantity we are speaking about here because we know many would love to speak on behalf of the shrine. However, we must be authentic witnesses with a story or two about our encounters there and how God touched our lives physically and spiritually through the graces and answered prayers you obtained in connection with Our Lady.
Please email hertpb@toronto.ca to register for the five-minute allotted deputation time for each individual on October 10 at 9:30 a.m. Kindly let us know once you have done so as well by sending an email to marbenjoseph@protonmail.com
The note below is from the City of Toronto. We pray for its continued success, and may God bless us!
