Help Save NWMSU Ed Philips Rodeo Arena
The Issue
No financial contributions please! We ask for your support that you sign and consider contacting university leadership.
The Ed Phillips Memorial Arena
The Northwest Horsemen’s Association is a club sports student organization that rides horses and competes in horsemanship and equitation events hosted through the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. The club competes in our region against equine science major and minor degree programs while our riders fund their riding lessons out of pocket, through fundraising, and with some assistance from club sports.
We would like to continue to have opportunities to participate in potential classes and student organizations, host events, and build community at this facility.
It is not just Agriculture students who benefit from the facility. Students of other departments also benefit from this facility and the potential it has to offer if it is kept as a part of the University.
A few additional departments that would benefit are:
Psychology and Student Wellness
Parks and Recreation management
Pre-Vet
Physical therapy
And so many more!
Currently, the Ed Philips Memorial Rodeo arena is at risk of being sold, which would negatively impact our club, community, and university’s ability to host events and would gravely impact students and community members who board horses at this facility.
The arena is a big staple for the community within the University and the City of Maryville. Let's keep fun and education safe by preserving the arena! Note: In the comments, please make it known why you appreciate Equine and how it has impacted your life.
Also if you would be so kind as tag us with #ISUPPORTEDPHILIPS or #ISUPPORTNWEQUINE on our Twitter and Instagram we would greatly appreciate it.
