Help save Kingston Stream Open Space
The Issue
The petition is to request that the council put in effective preventative measures, Not wooden trip rails as suggested, to stop travellers from setting up camp on Kingston Stream Open Space.
The issues the residents have been experiencing include:
Loud music late at night, fly tipping of garden waste and general rubbish, human excrement and filthy nappies throughout the open space, causing health safety and environmental issues. Also fires, constant dog barking and cockerel crowing disturbing residents sleep, intimidation meaning residents not feeling safe to leave their homes and being vulnerable.
The area also provides sheltered accommodation for the elderly and during term time provides a safe passage for children to walk to and from school.
If the council were to install the " wooden trip rails" as suggested this would not prevent the travellers from gaining access, the rails would be vandalised/removed to gain access, which we know has happened in other areas.
By the council installing the correct preventative measures first off, this will save all the extra costs of replacing the trip rails and cleaning up time and time again, costing the tax payer thousands and allowing everyone to enjoy the open space safely.
