Help save Bruce
The issue
This year we discovered a malnourished, sad dog named Bruce living on a North Kellyville property. The photo attached is from July 2023.
**UPDATE** due to the inspectors making a few trips to the property since the original report was filed in July, there has been ‘slight’ improvements in Bruce- he has gained some weight- although he is still very skinny. RSPCA has responded to our reports/emails and concerns saying that from their last inspection Bruce is in good body condition, no longer tied up and bright and alert.
Although there has been minor improvement, he is still underweight, still left with no food or water (even on 30 and above degree days) and is NOT bright and alert. He is still miserable. The only reason for the slight improvement is because of numerous reports from the public, inspectors going to the property and people addressing concerns with the owners.
Original description: It came to our attention that Bruce was severely malnourished and skinny, his spine and hips were visible and he was showing signs of severe depression. Amongst that, it was apparent that Bruce had no food and water on the property and to top it all off he was tied to a small rope restricting his movement dramatically.
From what we are able to see, the property doesn’t offer Bruce any shaded area from the sun or rain- he is an outside dog.
He has no interaction with other dogs or humans and from what we have heard from a family member, the children are scared to go outside with him hence why he stays tied up.
We have made numerous visits to check on his welfare and each time we have gone he is always there, by himself, outside, and miserable.
Numerous calls with RSPCA and other animal welfare agencies have sent inspectors out but it seems they aren’t doing anything with Bruce. He is still there.
We are putting this petition out in hope that if we get enough signatures RSPCA will take it into account and have the owners surrender their dog.
PLEASE NOTE: donations do not go to Bruce- they are going to change.org and have nothing to do with this petition
