Spoke to the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors again Monday night and showed them where - in Virginia's DSS board members handbook - they absolutely have the right to dismiss members of the social services board for "just cause" and were told they don't have to follow the handbook because Rockbridge doesn't follow state guidance documents like a board handbook - we only follow actual state laws. Then the supervisors spent almost an hour discussing a TCO appeal about a flag - and approximately 30 minutes discussing the city's decision to keep or remove a dam - but they won't talk about the grand jury recommendations to them, the deaths of two babies, the rapes and sexual assaults of multiple children, or - a new issue I am hearing more and more about - multiple deaths of elderly adults living alone and without families - over many, many years. Please call your city council member/ county supervisor and demand that the members of the social services board be replaced and that our governing bodies follow the recommendations provided to them by the special grand jury.
