According to this article: https://bit.ly/31AzYro the Russian government no longer gets involved in putting out the fires in the Siberian forests.
Allegedly this decision was founded on the following reasoning:
<<Russian authorities have made a decision not to commit to fighting these fires, because the ‘consequences do not outweigh the resources needed to fight them’>>
Also, according to this article:
<<90% of wildfires in Russia are the result of human activities, according to official statistics and Greenpeace’s own research. According to satellite imagery, most current Siberian and Far East wildfires started near logging sites, along roads and rivers where people have campfires.>>
With this perspective, I believe it is vital that we, the rest of the countries in Europe & the planet, realise that this type of approach costs us all. Greatly.
Yes, I've done my part for the forests in my country. I've founded two social movements that are still doing their work.
I really want us to look at this situation and see what we can do to turn this situation around.
In a positive note.
My search to contact other NGOs from the neighbouring countries of Russia continues. As soon as I have an answer, I will let you know of any other thing we can do aside from sharing and singing here.
Thank you!
