Reintroduce Gray Wolves to Pennsylvania

Reintroduce Gray Wolves to Pennsylvania
The Issue
As a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, I've witnessed firsthand the issues that come with an overabundance of deer. They ravage our gardens, cause countless road accidents each year, spread Lyme disease and ticks, and inflict significant damage on our farmers' crops. The economic toll is staggering - hundreds of millions to over one billion dollars lost every year due to these problems. This overpopulation can be traced back to one major event in the 1800s - the hunting and eradication of Gray Wolves from our state.
Gray Wolves were once a natural predator of deer in Pennsylvania. Their removal disrupted the balance in our ecosystem leading to an explosion in deer population. This unbalance can be proved by biologists who recommend 10-15 deer per square mile, while in Pennsylvania we currently have around 30 deer per square mile, which is 50% (or more) too many deer. By reintroducing these wolves back into their former habitats, we can restore this balance and mitigate the issues caused by deer overpopulation.
This isn't just about controlling deer numbers; it's about restoring a part of Pennsylvania's natural heritage that was unjustly removed more than a century ago. Let us bring back the Gray Wolves not only for their sake but for ours as well.
Join us in urging the Pennsylvania Game Commission to consider reintroducing Gray Wolves into Pennsylvania's ecosystems as part of a comprehensive plan to control deer populations responsibly and sustainably. Please sign this petition today!
