CitySquare Paris, located in Paris, Tx, is a non-profit organization that assists the homeless and low-income population receive their basic needs by providing food, clothing, and hygienic services. We are asking the board at CitySquare Paris to provide voter registration as a service to the public. The individuals who rely on CitySquare for these services may not have accessibility to be able to register to vote and by having them available at a place they are regularly visiting we can increase voter turnout. CitySquare Paris provides many volunteer opportunities which can also include a voter deputy registrar to provide their services in registering voters. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, the turnout for registered voters in rural communities is lower than in urban areas and individuals living in rural areas may have to travel longer distances to receive information regarding voting. We want to provide a space where the population of Paris can receive education on voting and be registered to vote in future elections. With the collaboration of a local non-profit such as CitySquare we can create a space that allows individuals who may not be educated on elections and be able to register to vote.
