Help Prosecute Florida Cat Killer To Fullest Extent Of The Law!
The Issue
This petition acts as a show of support for the maximum sentence allowed under law in the case of the STATE OF FLORIDA -VS- OSVALDO ALOMA GARRIDO (case #22-CF-016183).
Mr. Garrido shot at least seven cats with a pellet rifle. Three of the cats died from their injuries. The surviving cats were severely wounded, including a cat named Pearl, who had to have her leg amputated. Osvaldo is charged with one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals With a Weapon. Despite Mr. Garrido admitting to deputies that he shot at multiple cats in the area, he pled not guilty at his February 22, 2023, court hearing. A final hearing is scheduled for Friday, March 24, 2023, at 9:00 AM via ZOOM. Meeting ID: 656 204 7464 Password 1908.
As an animal advocacy organization, we are accustomed to seeing and hearing about heinous crimes carried out upon animals. This case is particularly egregious. The immense pain and suffering he caused these cats is inexcusable and reprehensible. We must uphold the laws put in place to protect animals and hold those who break the law accountable for their actions. If left unpunished, Mr. Garrido's crime sends a message that killing animals and breaking the law is okay.
For the reasons stated above, we, the undersigned, request that Osvaldo Aloma Garrido receive the maximum sentence allowed under law.
