Help Preserve Our Childcare Center

The Issue

Colleton County Academy Childcare Center in Walterboro, South Carolina is one of the largest childcare providers in Colleton County, our facility plays a critical role in supporting children and working families. The new ownership’s vision does not prioritize children’s wellbeing, safeguarding, or education, placing this essential resource at risk. We urge immediate action to protect our children and keep this facility operating beyond February 28, 2026.

For almost two decades, Mrs. Keshia has tirelessly dedicated herself to caring for and educating children in our community at our beloved childcare center in Walterboro, Sc. This establishment is not just a place for childcare; it is a nurturing environment where young minds flourish, and parents find peace of mind knowing their children are safe and well-cared for while they work. For countless families, this childcare center represents love, learning, and security.

Unfortunately, we are now faced with the alarming possibility of its closure, a situation that could drastically affect the lives of many parents and children who rely on this essential service every day. The closure of this center would not only disrupt the daily lives of our families but would also strip away the valuable early childhood education and emotional support that hundreds of young minds currently thrive on.

Statistics highlight that early childhood education is crucial for cognitive development and social skills. Research published by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) indicates that children who attend quality early childhood programs are more likely to succeed academically and socially. This highlights the importance of local community centers like ours.

To keep this valuable childcare center open, we urge local community members, parents, and city officials to collaborate. We propose forming a task force involving community leaders and parents to explore sustainable funding options, secure grants or subsidies, and potentially seek public-private partnerships to ensure the future of this center.

Preserving this childcare center is not just about keeping it physically open; it's about safeguarding the future of our children and our community. It is a hub of learning and growth, a place of joy and security, and we cannot afford to lose it. The children are the community!

Please sign this petition to urge our local government and community leaders to take immediate action to save our childcare center. I don’t know if this petition will stop or give us more time to find another place for the kids but it is a start. Your support is vital in furthering the future of our children and supporting working parents across the area. Together, we can ensure that our children continue to have a safe and enriching place to grow and learn.
