Watch this video and get a taste for the racially insensitive comments Councillor John Filion  has made in the past. Against persons from the Middle East, Koreans and Italians. 

Filion has ruled Willowdale for 3 decades. He is unpopular. The last election 7 out of 10 votes were cast AGAINST his re-election, but he still won because election rules are set up to ensure that once you are in, all the contenders have their hands tied behind their back.

Now Filion has sold his $3 million house in Willowdale and moved to The  Beaches, an upscale neighborhood where the majority are non-immigrants and speak English at home ( the opposite of today's Willowdale). But he remains Councillor for Willowdale. 

His latest move? Without asking anyone in the community, much less the seniors living in Willowdale Manor and Cummer Lodge seniors care facilities, he plotted to steal their cherished green treed parklands on their property and place prefab containers on it. But he is the same John Filion who in 1997 -1998 fought to keep these same parklands preserved for the seniors. What has changed? Well for one thing, the seniors in 1997-1998 who lived there were primarily Anglo-Saxon. And now they are primarily Asian. And surprise surprise, when MPP Stan Cho defended them, Filion lashed out with thinly veiled threats to run Mr. Cho out of office.
