Today, Willowdale Councillor Mr. John Filion continued his attacks on Provincial leaders Stan Cho, and Steve Clark who have defended residents rights and refused to cave to the City's demands to strip senior citizens and residents of all their legal rights.
Hundreds of elderly people living in Willowdale Manor home have rights to keep their cherished green canopy parkland. And the public has the right to require the City to be transparent and honest.
City of Toronto needs to be held accountable by Ontario Government leaders Stan Cho Steve Clark and Premier Doug Ford for trying to steal those parklands from our elderly.
Shame on Filion and Toronto officials Abi Bond and John Tory for exploiting vulnerable ethnic non English speaking senior citizens.
Nine months ago, without warning, the City of Toronto led by John Filion, declared they would strip Willowdale Manor Seniors Home residents of their parklands, clear cut mature trees, ignore the environmental and psychological impacts, ignore all zoning requirements, ignore all land use rules and place ready made container housing on the this site. Thousands of residents protested. The City and Mr Filion refused to listen and instead attacked residents in the media.
Last month the City started piling tens of millions of dollars in prefab living units in the TTC Finch Station parking lot.
The City continues to go "all in" in its bid to defeat hundreds of vulnerable seniors care home residents and thousands of their families and community members who have voiced fierce opposition to the City's wildly mismanaged secretly planned attempt to steal their cherished green parklands and irreplaceable trees.
All despite a 1998 OMB decision protecting those rights.
"Consultants" and "advocates" are laughing all the way to the bank, making off like bandits under no-bid contracts and undisclosed conflicts.
Mayor John Tory has not only looked the other way but championed the City's dictatorial approach, refusing to disclose the 50 other "inferior" sites they claim were examined in secret with zero public consultation. Since the plans were revealed in March, "consultations" have consisted of staged propaganda online sessions.
Fortunately, Willowdale MPP Stan Cho called upon Municipal Affairs Minister Steve Clark to warn the City that the Ontario Government would not simply wash away citizens' legal rights to transparency and appeal given the overwhelming number of directly affected residents expressing legitimate legal concerns.
NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE PROVINCE TO FINALLY DRAW THE LINE AND PROTECT THE COMMUNITY.
