For 20 years, Hassan Suleimani has worked with the Willowdale Manor seniors, over 240 of them. They were never informed that the City was considering taking their cherished green space.  Without notice to these very people, the elderly mostly ethnic non-English speaking residents, the City announced on March 10, 2021 that their parklands were chosen among hundreds of other sites across the entire city, to be taken over. To place prefabricated single rooms to house homeless men from across Toronto. No pre-consultation, no explanation, just a unilateral unappealable decision. A City decision fully supported by the local Councillor for 30 years, John Filion, who months earlier sold his multimillion dollar home just blocks away from this site, and moved to the Beaches!
