Help Oinking Acres stop the rezoning and annexation on 800N, a David Weekley Development

The Issue

In 2022, Olivia Head, invested her life savings to purchase 6.8 acres of land that is .80 miles from Oinking Acres Farm Rescue & Sanctuary, where she is the CEO and founder. This is a quiet, currently landlocked location, and is a perfect extension for Oinking Acres to provide a safe haven for some of our most vulnerable animals. Many of these rescues are elderly, have special needs, or come from horrific neglect cases. They cannot thrive in a busy, chaotic environment. They need calm, peace, and privacy—all of which are now under threat.

There is a proposal to rezone and annex 5.6 acres of land on 800N, in Brownsburg, as part of a larger development led by David Weekley Homes. Part of this development plan includes creating a subdivision entrance running alongside Olivia's property, where she houses some of Oinking Acres most delicate animals. This change will disrupt the peaceful existence of our sanctuary's residents, the very animals who have already suffered so much in their lives.

The proposed development is not just a disservice to those of us who cherish Brownsburg's rural integrity but a real threat to the well-being of our rescued animals. Studies have shown that overcrowding and abrupt environmental changes can lead to stress and health problems in animals, especially those who have previously experienced trauma. Our sanctuary offers them the sanctuary they desperately need and deserve.

Beyond the immediate impact on our animals, this development also stands to change the fabric of our community. Increased traffic, noise, and pollution could alter the essence of the countryside Brownsburg is known for. For many who call this area home, the unspoiled nature and the sense of space and freedom are priceless.

Let's come together to preserve the serenity and safety of Oinking Acres Farm Rescue & Sanctuary and protect the quality of life for all Brownsburg residents. It's crucial we take a stand against this unnecessary development project that threatens to compromise our sanctuary and community.

Sign this petition to voice your opposition to the rezoning and annexation of this land and help us protect the vulnerable animals who depend on this sanctuary for peace and recovery. Your support can make a difference in preserving the tranquility and safety of our community and its inhabitants.
