More insurers moving to North Queensland Friday October 10th, 2014 We have just completed our latest round of successful education seminars in Mackay, Townsville and Cairns. All events were very well attended and key insurance information was openly discussed. Government representatives attended each event and provided an update on progress towards a more equitable market for the region. In Cairns, Federal MP Warren Entsch also discussed the $12.5mil insurance initiative, which is successfully being rolled out throughout North Queensland. The initiative is funding engineering assessments for Bodies Corporate to ensure they can mitigate potential risks that may be increasing their insurance premiums. The initiative will continue to be rolled out over the coming three years. Honan Insurance Group's, Chris Glass, also provided insight into the motivations of the major insurers in the market and the progress made by other insurers to provide healthy competition. Chris Glass also discussed the current state of the insurance market and enlightened attendees that the market is currently correcting itself and these changes will soon filter down to strata insurance premiums.
