WOW!!! Today, 22nd January 2018, may be the start of the light at the end of the tunnel. Warren was interviewed on 4CA (Cairns) this morning and I heard the entire interview. He has been involved with a Sydney organisation since last year who are registering a Mutual with APRA to provide cyclone coverage for North Qld. He stated premiums could be cut by up to 50% as a result of this Mutual. Now, we may have to wait and see before we open the champagne, but the Mutual should be registered in the next couple of months. A number of Senior insurance people from various insurance companies are involved, so they should know what they're doing. Government support will be initially required but that should reduce over time. The most important thing about a Mutual is that excess funds are not given to shareholders or used to pay excessive salaries (for people who are already overpaid) but are used to the benefit of the members of the Mutual, which in turn could result in more lowering of premiums. I don't have all the details of how its going to work, but it is fantastic news. I will update as I get details.
