My name is Norah. I’m 44, autistic, and have ADHD, dyslexia and lasting physical limitations following Guillain-Barré syndrome. I am socially isolated and struggling to protect access to metformin.

My GP’s interpretation of NICE guidelines has led to an interim prescription being refused. I feel my individual circumstances remain inadequately considered. The uncertainty and repeated chasing are seriously harming my mental health.

My specialist documented a treatment response, including weight loss alongside diet and exercise, and recommended continuation with reassessment. I report improved energy and daily functioning, with no adverse effects to report.

NICE guidance preserves responsibility for decisions appropriate to individual circumstances.

I ask NHS Essex to work with my GP to arrange an urgent individual review and monitored interim prescribing where clinically appropriate, while further investigations and specialist advice clarify my treatment.
