The Issue
Medical coders in Connecticut earn an average salary of $62,154, a little better than the New England’s regional salary average of $61,800. For prospective Connecticut medical coders, major markets include Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, and Stamford. Many people in our African-American and Hispanic communities are losing out on a rewarding career opportunity due to lack of proper education and funding. The CPC credential from the AAPC is a medical coding certification that pays, credentialed coders earn 40% more than non-credentialed coders. I am a firm believer in 99% of jobs can be taught and everyone deserves a chance!
