As a dedicated caregiver for special needs animals, I have always opened my home and heart to these unique creatures. However, since moving to Beaufort County, North Carolina, this task has become increasingly difficult due to the local vets and animal control's lack of understanding and compassion. They are currently trying to bully us into euthanizing our disabled duck who is clearly receiving veterinary care and is not suffering or in pain.

Our duck is not just an animal; she's a part of our family. We believe that all animals deserve a chance at life, regardless of their physical condition. We make end-of-life decisions when the animals are no longer comfortable or can't be managed any longer with vet help - not before.

Unfortunately, the pressure from animal control isn't an isolated incident. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), there are cases where euthanasia is suggested prematurely due to misconceptions about disabilities in animals.
