Petition to Leave the IB Program and Remain at My Current School

I am respectfully requesting permission to leave the IB program while remaining enrolled at my current school. I understand that IB is a challenging and demanding program, and I entered it knowing that I would have to work hard. However, the level of difficulty and pressure I have experienced has become overwhelming, and I have reached a point where I do not feel that continuing in the program is the best decision for my academic success or overall well-being.

Throughout my time in school, I have always been a hardworking and successful student. I have maintained good grades, worked hard to keep a strong GPA, and taken pride in doing my best. I have never been a student who gets into trouble, and I have always tried to follow expectations, treat others with respect, and maintain positive relationships with my teachers and the people around me. Because of this, struggling academically in the way that I currently am has been extremely difficult for me to accept. It does not feel like the student I know myself to be.

I am not asking to leave IB because I do not care about school or because I want an easier path. I am asking because I genuinely believe that IB is no longer allowing me to perform at the level I know I am capable of. I have been putting in effort, but I am struggling in ways that I have not experienced before. Continuing down this path simply because I feel like I have to could negatively affect my grades, my confidence, and my ability to be successful in school.

I also want to make it clear that remaining at my current school is extremely important to me. I have built meaningful relationships with my teachers, classmates, and school community, and I feel connected to where I am now. The thought of leaving my current school and being placed back at Northside is something that genuinely hurts my heart. I have worked hard to build the relationships and environment that I have now, and I believe staying at my current school would give me the opportunity to continue succeeding without the pressure of the IB program.

I am willing to continue working hard, maintain good grades, follow school expectations, and take my education seriously. I simply believe that I can be a stronger, healthier, and more successful student outside of the IB program. I am asking for the opportunity to prove that leaving IB does not mean giving up on my education. It means recognizing what I need in order to continue doing well and remain the student I have always worked hard to be.

I respectfully ask that my request to leave the IB program be considered while allowing me to remain at my current school. I truly believe this would be the best decision for my academic future, and I would be extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue my education in an environment where I feel supported, connected, and capable of succeeding.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my petition and for understanding why this decision is so important to me.
