In an effort to do the right thing, and at the urging of various friends and mentors (including my buddy Dee Parsons) I recently offered to engage in mediation with perjuring priest Bob Malm, the Episcopal Dioceses of Massachusetts and Virginia, Grace Episcopal Church, and the myriad other parties to my dispute with the Episcopal church.
In order to give the other side a fair opportunity to consider my proposal, I am going to avoid specifics for now. But I can say it’s long on requests for accountability, and short on requests for apologies.
Why?
Because I don’t want to run into the usual diocesan routine of cheap grace, where they do whatever they want, then say, “I’m sorry,” and treat it like everything is suddenly sunsets and Chardonnay.
Instead, I’d rather see accountability and positive change, including the diocese cleaning up its act.
Will it happen?
I don’t know.
I do know that I want nothing further to do with the Episcopal Church. While there are some good people in it, it has some serious internal issues. And life is too short to deal with more of the ugly conduct I have experienced in the Diocese of Virginia and at Grace Episcopal Church.
